Founding Day Steering Committee notes
First organizing meeting November 23, 2016, 16:00 - 17:00 in MITC


Founding Day 2017 will be on Thursday, March 30, 2016 due to April 01 being a Saturday and Friday 31 March is FSM/Pohnpei Culture day (Rahn en Tiahk).

Discussion of overall plans. Last year was fundraising year, so this year is not fundraising. KIng and queen will be selected based on top float. Best float will capture king and queen. 


Subcommitttees (tentative leads in some instances)

Shutdown: Castro, Eugene Edmund
Food (Jim Alexander on the lead, Bastora Loyola)
Medical group (Benina Ilon on lead plus nursing students, Castro to help with ambulance)
Media and promotion (JP Santo, Luciano Mathias)
Security (Warren Ching on the lead, Sakias) Kolonia and state police contact 
Float and flag committee (Michael Muller, Edwin Sione)
Logistics (program at the venue) including tents, tables, chairs
Site decoration: Julia Martin and the Lady Sharks
Transportation: Facilities and maintenance?
Judging: Scott Snaden on lead? Dana is KSO advisor and is recused by conflict of interest. 


Courtesy invites of political leadership, ambassadors. That list will be assembled by working with the president, VP Habuchmai, Norma, and Bastora, among others.

PingMwok Student Organization (Brown or orange team?)
Pohnpei Student Organization (national and Pohnpei campus combined)*

*color to be determined. Somewhere between blue and purple. Indigo?


Committee favors holding the celebration at Spanish Wall and having the parade go downhill from track and field at in 2005. For reference:
