    Pohnpei Campus Faculty/Staff Senate General Assembly

    September 21, 2012

    12:30pm – 1:30pm, Room #7

     

    Below are few concerns and issues raised by faculty and staff during the meeting; however, some relevant issues were also brought up for information purposes only. A total of 30 faculty and staff attended the meeting.

     

    Concerns/Issues raised by Faculty and Staff:

    • Staff on special contracts not getting the extended benefits.
    • Faculty summer pay contract
    • Salary freeze/Any step increase in FY 2014
    • Special contract faculty overload
    • Dependent’s Waiver – cut off age are children over the age of 22 while spouses are getting the benefits.

    I believe some other concerns that were addressed in this meeting include:
    1. HR screening of candidate files before issuing to ad hoc committees as several application packets have arrived that are incomplete; therefore delaying the screening and hiring process.
    2. TRIO programs must have VPIA signature/approval for all PO's and contracts when there is no place for VPIA to sign, which also delays the process of getting documents sorted for approval.
