The bylaws dated April 29, 2014 contain revisions based on recommendations made by Dr. Monty Vierra on Article I (Membership).
Article VIII had also been modified to include a transitory provision.
These changes are discussed below.
SENATE BYLAWS
ARTICLE I
MEMBERSHIP
Original text:
Section 1. All COM-FSM employees, including full-time and part-time, are members of the COM-FSM Faculty/Staff Senate (hereafter referred to as the Senate), with the exception of the President of COM-FSM, provided such employee has paid the corresponding membership fee as required in Section 1 of Article II.
Changed to:
Section 1. All COM-FSM faculty and staff employees, including full-time and part-time, are members of the COM-FSM Faculty/Staff Senate (hereafter referred to as the Senate), provided such employee has paid the corresponding membership fee as required in Section 1 of Article II.
Section 2. Faculty are instructors. If a supervisor is also an instructor whose main duties are teaching, then that person is a member of the faculty.
Section 3. Staff are those who carry out a number of implementation tasks under the direction of supervisors and/or administrators.
ARTICLE VIII
RATIFICATION
Original text:
Section 2. Effective Date. These Bylaws take effect immediately upon ratification.
Changed to:
Section 2. Effective Date. These Bylaws, subject to the transitory provision in Section 3 below, shall take effect immediately upon ratification.
