    Sections in the class schedule are defined with a list of available grading modes.

    Registering for a section requires that the assigned grading mode be valid, and that it be defined as available for a section. Sections with no configured grading modes allow "GR - Graded A-F" only.

    Grading modes can determine the final grade recorded in academic history through application of grade rules.
